Co-op Training

The BMD Co-op is an integral component of Business Management Diploma program with Co-op as it provides students with essential real-world work experience in a Canadian English speaking business environment. The Co-op is designed to provide the students with two semesters of solid studies in their initial entry to the college. This is to effectively arm them with soft skill tools necessary for a quality six months (480 Hours) Co-op with a Canadian organization. Completing the initial first Co-op after six months (480 Hours) will allow the students to return to the college for the next Semester (240 Hours) of study before they enter their next six month (2nd) Co-op Term (480 Hours) prior to returning for their Final semester (240 Hours) of study, graduating and returning to their home countries armed with the necessary tools and training they need for their future careers. As students return to their home country, the combination of a Western Canadian Diploma and Co-op is not only a competitive advantage, but also allows students the opportunity to understand and experience the cultural and business nuances that can only be gained from a prolonged hands-on experience. CC 100 – Business Math

This is a fundamental course in Business Mathematics. Topics covered include: Mathematics of Merchandising, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Annuities, Loan Amortization, and Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis. This course is designed to encourage students to develop mathematical skills and abilities by applying them to common business situations. Regardless of his or her prior math experiences, this course will enhance the learner's ability to use mathematics to solve problems and make sound decisions from both a career and personal perspective.

CC 101 – Jednoduché účtovníctvo

Tento kurz pokrýva celý okruh účtovníctva pre tých s malými alebo žiadnymi základmi účtovníctva. Kurz je vypracovaný tak, aby poskytol študentom všeobecný výklad procesu účtovníctva, od zaznamenávania obchodných transakcií po vyhotovenie základných finančných výkazov.

CC 102 - Accounting 2

This course is a continuation of Accounting 1 and offers further insight into the field of accounting and how it serves the needs of the business community. We take an in-depth look at some specific items on the balance sheet, accounts receivable, inventory, capital assets, and current liabilities as well as the use of special journals, subsidiary ledgers, and end with an introduction to corporations. Applications of the principles learned will be applied to the preparation of financial statements, and in-depth problems, which emphasize the importance of accounting in decision making.

CC 105 - Business Enterprise

Students learn the challenges of starting a new business. Topics include strategic approaches to small business, small business startups, funding sources, market feasibility, buying a small business and franchising. Students begin to develop skills in financial management, market management, operations, human resources management and general small business management. Preparation of a business plan is a key experiential exercise.

CC 106 – Business Simulation

In this course, students will participate in a computer-based business simulation, designed to help them begin applying some of the foundational business principles introduced in other courses. Working in teams, students will manage a simulated business and make decisions related to all functional areas of business – marketing, operations, human resource management, and accounting. Teams will compete against other “businesses” managed by their peers. Success in the simulation will depend upon each team’s ability to work together, analyze the competitive environment and make decisions that will allow their “business” to outperform the rest.

CC 120 – Mikroekonomika pre obchod

Tento kurz je zameraný na ekonomickú analýzu, trhové základy, ponuku a dopyt, spotrebiteľské správanie a správanie výrobcov, monopoly a konkurenciu. Voliteľné okruhy aplikácií v obchode môžu skúmať pracovné trhy, vládne zásahy a reguláciu životného prostredia. Študenti budú pripravení identifikovať a zhodnotiť ekonomické situácie, ktoré sa nevyhnutne vyskytujú v obchode.

CC 130 – OB: Tímová dynamika

Tento kurz sa zaoberá štúdiom faktorov, ktoré ovplyvňujú alebo sú ovplyvnené ľuďmi v pracovnom prostredí. Pozornosť je zameraná na individuálne faktory ako sú osobnosť, postoje, vnímanie, motivácia, etické a sociálne dimenzie manažmentu.

CC 131 – OB: Vedenie a manažment zmeny

Tento kurz sa zaoberá štúdiom faktorov ktoré ovplyvňujú alebo sú ovplyvnené ľuďmi v pracovnom prostredí. Pozornosť je zameraná na štyri perspektívy organizácií a manažmentu (integračná, funkčná, kultúrna a behaviorálna) vrátane makro faktorov ako organizačná štruktúra, technológie a životné prostredie, ale aj skupinové faktory ako skupinová dynamika, vedenie, konflikt, zmena a rozhodovanie.

CC 139 – Komunikácia 21. Storočia

Pokroky v technológii menia spôsoby medziľudskej komunikácie, ako aj spôsoby masovej komunikácie, reklamy, organizácie a stratégií v obchode. Úroveň vedomostí, ktorá sa očakáva od študentov sa neustále mení. Schopnosti a zručnosti 21. storočia zahŕňajú: informačné a komunikačné technológie (ICT), schopnosť myslieť a riešiť problémy, medziľudské a vodcovské schopnosti, globálny prehľad, finančná, ekonomická, obchodná a občianska gramotnosť. Tento kurz sa absolvuje on-line prostredníctvom unikátneho partnerstva s Apple iTunes University. Video prednášky sú k dispozícii študentom každý týždeň spolu s krátkymi zadaniami a štyrmi rozsiahlymi zadaniami počas trvania kurzu.

CC 140 – Obchodná komunikácia

Tento kurz oboznámi študentov so súčasnými komunikačnými teóriami a princípmi, so spôsobom ako komunikácia funguje na pracovisku a ako je ovplyvnená vyskytujúcou sa technológiou.

CC 141 – Základné princípy marketingu

Tento kurz poskytuje študentom pohľad na marketingový koncept a jeho aplikáciu v ktorejkoľvek organizácii alebo službe. Študenti sa taktiež naučia ako marketingové koncepty, princípy a teórie môžu pomôcť pracovníkom marketingu robiť správne rozhodnutia. Špeciálna pozornosť sa venuje porozumeniu marketingového mixu a jeho zložiek; produktu, ceny, reklamy a distribúcie a ako ich zamerať na špecifické cielené trhy.

CC 142 – Marketing 2

This course focuses on the marketing mix, a collection of variables that marketers control and manipulate in changing market conditions. Once marketing objectives have been developed, companies must decide on specific pricing, products/services, distribution and marketing communication strategies. Students study each of these four marketing mix variables in depth and in the context of a marketing plan.

CC 150 – Počítačové koncepty

Prostredníctvom tohto kurzu sa študenti oboznámia s informačnými technológiami, počítačmi a počítačovými sieťami a ich aplikáciou v pracovnom prostredí. Výsledkom sú schopnosti a ich praktické využitie na zvýšenie produktivity a riešenie problémov s využitím vhodných obchodných aplikácií.

CC 151 – Business Computers 2

This course will introduce and further develop Microsoft Excel skills that the student will need use in subsequent semesters and in the business world. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to prepare tables and graphs, use input fields, understand and be able to use Microsoft Excel insert functions and specialized functions. These functions include goal seeking, solver and data analysis.

CC 230 - Human Resource Management 1

Designed for persons interested in management and/or supervision. It develops an understanding of significant human resource management processes and systems utilized in today's business and government organizations. Employment-related legislation and current human resource management issues are surveyed. Topics cover human resource management processes with some emphasis on practical application of the techniques studied.

CC 231 - Human Resource Management 2

This advanced course gives students an appreciation of the technical aspects of human resources. Topics include performance appraisal, compensation management, financial incentives, employee benefits and services, employee relations practices, the union/management framework, and health and safety. Students who successfully complete this course and HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT I (HRM 1200) with an average B standing receive a full credit toward the Human Resources Administration course from the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario.

CC 280b – PLA Portfólio

Tento záverečný kurz má za cieľ pripraviť študentov na oboje, ďalšie akademické vzdelávanie a budúce pracovné uplatnenie. Študenti zúročia vedomosti získané programom na dosiahnutie kariérnych cieľov. Takisto budú spolupracovať s programovým vedúcim pri vypracovaní svojho PLA (Prior Learning Assessment) portfólia zameraného na prevedenie kreditov pre ďalšie akademické vzdelanie alebo certifikáciu.
